We’ve got an inspiring story to share with you today that truly embodies the spirit of resilience and determination. A former resident of Parc Prison in Bridgend, who crossed paths with Purple Shoots<\/a> through their involvement with the Employability Advisory Board.<\/p>\n

He wasn’t just any inmate; he was a representative on the board, showcasing his commitment to bettering himself even in challenging circumstances. Purple Shoots’ encounter with him didn’t stop there though. They also had the pleasure of chatting with him during one of the job events organized by the Resettlement Team within the prison walls. These events aim to assist individuals who are gearing up for their reintegration into society.<\/p>\n

Now, here’s where the magic happens. He had a plan. A solid one. Despite facing setbacks, he was determined to revive his flooring business post-incarceration. This wasn’t just any business; it was something he had successfully managed before his time behind bars. Talk about resilience! Armed with a wealth of skills in floor laying and small business management, and was ready to hit the ground running.<\/p>\n

True to his word, he wasted no time reaching out to Purple Shoots within his first week of freedom. By the time they sat down with him, he had already taken several proactive steps. He’d registered as self-employed with HMRC, sorted out his benefits, restored his wheels back to roadworthy condition, secured some work, and even scheduled his CSCS card. Now, that’s what is called determination!<\/p>\n

But like many entrepreneurs, he faced one final hurdle: funding for essential tools. With his keen eye for research, he had already scoured suppliers and prices, leaving only one piece missing from the puzzle \u2013 financial support. Cue Purple Shoots, supported by Duport, stepping in to break down that barrier with a much-needed loan.<\/p>\n

The loan wasn’t just about money. It symbolized a fresh start, a second chance to carve out a better life for himself and his son. In his own words, without the support, getting his business back on its feet would have been an uphill battle. But with it, he felt empowered to seize the opportunity and turn his dreams into reality.<\/p>\n
