The latest Duport Business Confidence Report for the area shows there were 130 new company formations in Darlington over the first quarter, representing a 24% reduction on the same period last year.
However, in more positive news, the number of company closures fell by 73%, leading to a significant spike in net company growth (the number of companies formed minus the number closed).
In further good news, the number of company directors under the age of 25 rose over the three months, although the number of female directors dropped.
