While economists talked fearfully of a triple-dip recession in 2012, Coventry was quietly racking up net company growth almost equalling that of booming 2006.
New research from Duport.co.uk reveals that net company growth in Kingston Upon Thames dipped during the first three months of the year.
The beginning of 2013 has seen some positive economic results in Folkestone, with company formation rising and a rise in net company growth.
September 2012
Company formations are on the rise in Redditch, suggesting economic growth in the area. During the first six months of the year, there were 251 company registrations, representing a 14% rise when compared with the same period in 2011.
The Redditch Town Centre Partnership is keen to encourage entrepreneurial spirit in the town, and have just launched "Pitch Your Plan" to "help bring more life and variety into what Redditch has to offer both local people and visitors to the Town Centre". The scheme takes the form of a "Dragon's Den" style competition, and winning entries will receive funding to help get their business off the ground.
The initiative specifically aims to support those operators and specialist retailers offering a niche product range that will positively contribute to the overall town proposition.
Managing Director of Duport.co.uk, Peter Valaitis said:
"The rising number of new company registrations in Redditch is a very positive sign for the future of the local economy. The Town Partnership is wise to encourage entrepreneurial spirit through schemes such as "Pitch Your Plan", as new business, especially in niche markets, will strengthen the economy of the area and quality of the town environment."
With a rising number of company formations and funding available for innovative new businesses, the future of Redditch town centre looks to set to be very exciting indeed.
