The beginning of 2013 has seen some positive economic results in Folkestone, with company formation rising and a rise in net company growth.
New research from Duport.co.uk reveals that net company growth in Kingston Upon Thames dipped during the first three months of the year.
The latest Duport Business Confidence Report for Dudley shows there was a decline in company formation in the area last year. However, the report also shows there was a reduction in company closures during the same period, suggesting trading conditions may actually be improving in the town.
The percentage of female director appointments in Bridgend rose during the first six months of the year. Between January and June, 21% of director appointments were women, compared to 18% during the same period in 2011. These numbers buck the trend for the UK as a whole, where numbers of female directors are currently falling.
Bridgend has much to encourage entrepreneurs, both male and female, to set themselves up as directors of their own companies. The Brackla Street Centre at Cheapside is due to get a multi-million pound redevelopment, and there are plans to convert a derelict Grade II-listed building at Elder Yard into a restaurant which will provide the impetus for other improvements in the area.
These developments, and several others that are planned, will increase footfall to the town centre and hopefully improve the prospects of the new businesses that are setting up here.
Managing Director of Duport.co.uk, Peter Valaitis said:
"The rising number of female directors in Bridgend is a positive sign for the local economy, and should help bring a fresh perspective to the business community.
"Our report contains further good news for Bridgend, showing a drop in company closures and a rise in net company growth in recent months."
