Altrincham fosters young directors

October 2012

The latest Duport Business Confidence Report reveals that the number of young director appointments in Altrincham rose over the first six months of the year. Between January and June, the appointment of directors under 25 stood at 4.4%, compared to 2.2% during the same period in 2011. Data in the full report shows that young director appointments have been rising since the first half of 2004.

As well as a rise in young director appointments, the area saw a rise in the number of new company formations during the first half of the year. The rise in new companies could be linked to the planned £150 million mixed-use development, known as 'Altair'. The project is due for completion in the next two to three years, and will include retail, office, leisure and residential space, as well as new ice stadium and a 100 bed hotel.

Managing Director of Duport.co.uk, Peter Valaitis said:

"Although Altrincham town centre suffered with the opening of the nearby Trafford Centre, the statistics in our latest report show promising signs of economic growth."

"The rise in young directors should bring fresh thinking into the business community, and new company formation should help strengthen the economic base of the area."

The Duport Business Confidence Report for Altrincham provides an overview of the town's economic performance and includes both current and historical data.
