The annual Duport Business Confidence Report for Ipswich has revealed both positive and negative economic statistics for the area during 2013.
Stoke-on-Trent experienced a surge in new company formations during 2013, according to figures in the latest Duport Business Confidence Report for the area.
Swindon saw a steep rise in company formations during the first six months of the year, with 759 companies being registered between January and June. This figure beats any half year on record for the town and represents a 14.5% rise on the same period last year. The full Duport Business Confidence Report shows that company formations in Swindon have been rising since 2009.
Earlier this year a major regeneration project was announced for Swindon Town Centre, which could be the reason business start-ups are flocking to the area. The £50 million project is due for completion in 2014 and will include a 52,000 sq ft Morrison's superstore, eight restaurants and bars, a 30,000 sq ft six-screen cinema and a 450-space car park.
"The proposed regeneration of Swindon town centre seems to already be attracting new business to the town. The extra footfall that the new development will bring should benefit business start-ups in the vicinity, helping them grow and prosper."
