red tape challenge gives small business a voice

april 2011

Business Secretary Vince Cable has launched the Red Tape Challenge, to give companies a voice in what regulation is to be scrapped by the government.

The Red Tape Challenge website is designed to let SMEs tell the government about which regulations they find intrusive and expensive.

Each sector has a 2 week window to have their say about their specific industry, with the site constantly open for comments about general regulations.

“We’re determined to do this in a very thorough way. The Red Tape Challenge is looking at regulations which have a bearing on how you run your business," Stated Dr Cable.

"Some are very old, redundant or intrusive, and while some are necessary, it’s got to be done in a proper way.”

To have your say about the red tape and regulation affecting your business, log on to www.redtapechallenge.cabinetoffice.gov.uk
