| Nearly fifty percent of start-up business owners say that risk is no obstacle to forming a company, according to a survey by BT Business.
Despite the current economic climate, entrepreneurs are still confident of their ability, with 60% of respondents stating that they have the skills to set up a business.
"Our research found the spirit of entrepreneurialism in Britain is as strong as ever. Even in the current economic situation lots of people are relishing the challenge of starting their own enterprise," stated Bill Murphy, managing director of BT Business.
A better work/life balance was found to be a contributing factor in encouraging entrepreneurship for one in three respondents and 43% also wished to work fewer hours - although for people in London this figure increased to 62%.
The ability to work flexibly and make use of knowledge and skills are still proving to be motivating factors for those starting up in business despite the economic downturn.
