| Small businesses are losing 24 days a year to dealing with government legislation, and it is now the primary concern for 54% of business owners, according to a survey from BT.
Cashflow has traditionally been the biggest worry for small companies, but the impact of red tape and regulation has now become a more significant issue.
The small business community has raised concerns that the Employment Simplification Bill, which was presented to Parliament last month, will do little to help companies deal with the changes and introductions in employment and workplace regulation.
Only 27% of respondents to the survey felt that finance was the primary concern for their business.
