| 42% of small business owners have ruled out the possibility of taking a holiday this summer, according to a survey by communications company Unicom.
Even entrepreneurs who were planning on taking a break from work felt that they would be unable to take time off when they needed to, with 39% stating that they were unlikely to get holidays when they wanted - such as during school holidays.
“Small business owners and managers are clearly working harder than ever to weather the current economic storm," stated Unicom’s operations director Chris Earle.
“Just when many of them really need a break they find they can’t take one.”
The survey also suggested that the current economic climate is partly responsible for the increased pressure for business owners to work long hours in order to keep their companies afloat.
