| Recent disasters have shown small and medium sized businesses the need for an effective business continuity plan, according to the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB).
Floods, foot and mouth disease and blue tongue disease were all cited by FSB spokesperson Simon Briault as factors which have made smaller companies more aware of the necessity of implementing a disaster recovery plan.
"There's more awareness now than ever before about the need to make sure that you've got continuity plans and that you can survive if there's a flood or a fire or whatever", stated Mr Briault.
Small businesses were hit hard during the summer floods, and the FSB made funds available to companies who had suffered due to a lack of business continuity planning.
