Britain's business community is again being urged to show care when scrutinising the CVs of potential employees.
According to a survey by BackgroundChecking.com, over 80 per cent of respondents confirmed their belief that providing misleading information on a CV is a routine occurrence, reports bCentral.
"Many candidates and fraudsters rely on the fact that prospective employers do not check the information on, or omitted from, their CVs and applications, or discussed in their interview," said Steve Bailey, managing director of BackgroundChecking.com.
"Businesses [need] to think about checking CVs and applications for any untruths before they find out the hard way," he added.
In light of these findings, it may be beneficial for employers to make full use of interviews before offering posts to prospective employees.
BackgroundChecking.com is an Experian company specialising in pre and post-employment background checks.
