The government is introducing a new wave of taxes and levies which will affect businesses across the UK, according to a report by Richard Tyler of the Telegraph.
“The taxation burden is creeping up in the business as well as the domestic arena. This Government is clever. They have been collecting more tax without increasing the headline rate” stated Mike Warburton, senior tax partner at Grant Thornton.
The Local Government Committee argue that the increase in spending by local authorities has been paid for by increased council taxes, and that businesses now provide a far smaller proportion of the amount.
Richard Tyler refers to the tax preventing owners of family companies being paying themselves in dividends; the London Low Emissions Zone; the increases in holiday entitlement and minimum wage and compulsory employer pension contributions as some of the measures being introduced to raise the tax burden on businesses.
