Another wave of rolling strikes by the Communication Workers Union begins at 7 PM on August 9th and will end on the 17th, due to a continuing dispute over pay and modernisation.
Businesses should brace themselves for further delays in the postal service, which could leave bills and salaries unpaid and products undelivered, causing disruption to many companies.
"In taking further strike action the CWU is again failing to grasp or understand the harsh realities of an open postal market and the intensifying competition from other forms of communication, including broadband internet," stated a spokesperson for the Royal Mail.
The Communication Workers Union claims that the Royal Mail will soon impose modernisation plans which could cause 40,000 job losses and later delivery start times.
This is the second rolling strike action by the Union, where different departments strike at staggered times to cause the maximum impact. There have also been two 24 hour strikes previously.
