Barclays has implemented new technology to help combat internet fraud, the bank has announced.
For its efforts, it was the recipient of Anti-Fraud Strategy of the Year at this year's Financial Sector Technology Awards.
Some of the bank's innovations which were honoured included its use of advanced transaction profiling tools for the prevention of fraud, as well as some new customer schemes which make online banking more secure.
Barclay's offers free anti-virus software and an SMS text message confirmation service for third-party payments to its computer-based customers as part of its anti-fraud measures.
Barnaby Davis, director for electronic banking, said: "Barclays works 24/7 to combat online fraud and ensure our customers and their money are safe.
"This award is a reflection of how much we have done in the last year."
Other ways to fight fraud include running a credit report to check for rogue transactions and watching out for phishing emails which ask for customer details online.
