Where they are
Companies House has 2 central UK mainland locations; Companies House Cardiff and Companies House Edinburgh. Which one you register a company with depends where your Registered Office will be. Companies with England and Wales based addresses are registered at Companies House Cardiff. Companies with their registered address in Scotland are registered at Companies House Edinburgh. What does it matter?
Although essentially the same institution, the different Companies House locations operate with some minor differences. For example, you may not be a Director for a company registered with Companies House Edinburgh, until you are over 16. Whereas with Companies House Cardiff, you may be a Director at any age. These differences rarely impact our clients, though we will contact you as and when they matter. The primary location where most functions are co-ordinated is Companies House, Cardiff.
