property grant scheme
Building improvement grant for businesses in Conwy Borough - 50% of costs, up to a maximum of £10,000.

This scheme makes grants available for the improvement or upgrading of business properties. It is intended to cover the following three categories of property:
• Business premises not covered by other Council property grant schemes, the visual improvement of which would complement other regeneration initiatives in the immediate vicinity e.g. Housing Renewal Area schemes;
• Isolated shops selling goods that meet the day-to-day needs of the local community;
• Non-retail commercial or industrial premises within predominantly residential areas whose presence does not conflict with the amenity of surrounding residents and where the proposals would benefit the appearance of the area.

Grants are available for the external and selected internal improvement to business premises within the scheme area. All works should lead to a visual improvement of the external appearance of the building, and where appropriate, should attempt to restore or retain its traditional character.

Proposals for replacement shop fronts must respect the Council’s wish to retain traditional shop fronts. The same principle will apply to all doors, windows and other architectural details contained in the front elevation of premises.
